Station 1
7700 Baseline Road, Boulder
This fire station was orginally constructed in 1967, The station was added on to in 1978 and remodeled to its current configuration in 1999. The 1999 renovation focused on providing living facilities as the department evolved from volunteer to career.
Today, based on current staffing levels, combined with number and size of fire and rescue apparatus, the station is undersized and outdated. Virtually every aspect of the facility is being stretched beyond capacity: essential equipment is stored outdoors; firefighters sleep in offices and meeting rooms; the septic system and two bathrooms cannot accomodate the 12 - 15 daily employees; and the mechanical systems (e.g. plumbing, heating, air conditioning) are undersized for the daily use.
