This fire station was constructed in the 1999. At that time, Boulder County was experiencing significant growth in the construction industry and rapidly rising costs limited the departments ability to add all of the desired elements. Moreover, in the last year, RMF has substantially improved its response to medical and trauma calls by adding a paramedic ambulance. Unfortunately, there is no space in a apparatus bays and the ambulance is forced to be parked outside.

The renovation goals for this station are to add two apparatus bays to house additional equipment, add additional bedrooms for the ambulance personnel and to increase office, create on-site training facilities and expand meeting room and office space. The training tower for this and all station renovations will be utilized by on shift RMF firefighters and will not be used for live fire training. Physical construction work is expected to begin in early April.
